Celebrating Immorality

“Why should I care if men marry men or women marry women?” The truth is that it’s a very big deal. In fact, it may be the biggest deal – after the state-approved murders of 50 million unborn children – that the United States has ever faced or ever will face. It’s important because it weakens one of the last remaining foundational pillars on which our nation is built. For that matter, on which any nation is built. You see,

How Accurate Are God’s Prophecies?

Do you think that the prophecies found in the Bible have nothing to do with life today?  Christians realize that God’s prophesies cover time from beginning to end.  But, if you are skeptical, here’s one that might be a reality check for you. You are probably aware that, on May 15, 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation.  You may also know that the rebirth of Israel was predicted in the Bible. But until a discovery revealed recently by Grant Jeffrey,

Observations on Our Nation’s Condition

I find it very disconcerting that a firestorm of controversy could be ignited by the truth that was spoken on the topic of Christianity recently in a predominantly Christian nation. The controversy began when pastor Robert Jeffress took to the stage at the annual gathering of evangelical Christians on October 7th to introduce Rick Perry. The Texas pastor said: “Rick Perry’s a Christian. He’s an evangelical Christian, a genuine follower of Jesus Christ…Mitt Romney’s a good moral person, but he’s

Understanding and Interpreting the Coming of Jesus

There may be serious differences in the understanding of His promised coming. To one it is plain as day that He is coming very soon in person to reign on earth, and that imminent coming is his hope and his stay. To another, who loves his Bible and his Savior just as much, the coming can mean nothing but the Judgment Day – the solemn transition from time to eternity, the close of history on earth, the beginning of heaven;

There is no “Second America”

The Editor for a German newspaper group, Welt, recently penned an op-ed for The New York Times. He articulated a surprising European perspective on President Obama’s “Europeanization” of America. Referring to the Syrian civil war, Clemens Wergin wrote: “I suddenly understood the problem with this American president and his foreign policy. He sounded just like a German politician: all moral outrage, but little else to help end one of the most devastating civil wars of our age. President Obama, I

America Has Become “The Land Of Oz”

Over my lifetime, the U.S. has endured many challenges and hardships, but it has also risen to become the greatest power the world has ever known. We have been blessed by God with success, prosperity, and freedoms that no other nation in history has ever enjoyed. And during my lifetime, I firmly believe America has been God’s blessing to the world. We have stopped forces of evil and secured liberty for untold millions. At times, we have virtually fed the

Christian Morals Unwelcome in New York

Recently, New York’s governor Andrew Cuomo told a radio interviewer that “extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay… have no place in the state of New York.” New York’s new mayor quickly seconded that motion, “…100 percent.” Cuomo later tried to walk that statement back by saying that he meant the extremists had no place in New York politics. But two of the three issues he mentioned are moral issues, not political ones. If you’re a conservative and/or a Christian

U.S. Intervention Leads to Persecution of Christians

Every year, an organization called Open Doors publishes its “World Watch.” It includes a list of the fifty countries in the world guilty of the worst persecution of Christians. This year, North Korea and Somalia topped the list. Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan rounded out the top five. That means that the United States is heavily involved with three of the five worst offenders in the world. Further, Libya was placed in the category of “Extreme Persecution” and Egypt received a

Are We The Ones?

Prophecy, especially prophecy concerning the “end times,” is a popular subject these days. A century ago, that was not the case. In fact, many of the great Christian thinkers, evangelists, pastors, and religious leaders gave little thought to the cryptic Biblical prophecies concerning the end of days. Some even went so far as to discount them as nothing more than Biblical symbolism. So why is the subject so popular today? One word: Israel. You see, none of the prophecies concerning

When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?

In 1954, the American Legion sponsored a series of network television broadcasts called “Back to God.” On one of those national telecasts, President Dwight D. Eisenhower appeared from the White House. He thanked the American Legion for urging Americans to acknowledge God in their daily lives. Then the President said, “As a former soldier, I am delighted that our veterans are sponsoring a movement to increase our awareness of God in our daily lives. In battle, they (the veterans) learned

The ‘Political Correctness’ Contagion

It’s as if we’re standing on the seashore and watching the waves of “political correctness” lapping at our feet. Sometimes they almost reach us, then recede. Sometimes they wash over our toes. Occasionally, they splash at our ankles. It’s annoying, but not enough to make us return to higher ground. I fear, though, that if we only raise our eyes to the horizon, we may be surprised to see an ominous sight – a tidal wave gathering force as it

U.S. Systematically muting God’s Voice

As President Obama’s administration finds itself engulfed in multiplying — and ever-widening — scandals, it’s alarming how many of them involve the restriction of our rights as citizens, the destruction of institutions and liberties vital to our national freedom, and the suppression of any opposition — especially the church and her ministers — that is perceived as a threat to the administration’s intentions. Folks, I believe we are at a crossroads. If we turn a blind eye to the cynical
