Where Does Truth Come From?

by Martyn Iles A few years ago, I was helping a group of teenagers with some tutoring sessions. They would ask about everything, from English essays to science projects. As this practice grew, I wondered how we might make the best use of our time. So one evening I asked them, “What do you need help with the most?” After a long pause, one of them suddenly lit up as if she’d had the best idea of her life. That’s

What is Success?

I have a beautiful Japanese maple tree in my front yard that provides a home for birds in the spring, refreshing shade in the summer, and gorgeous foliage in the fall. It’s an amazing creation of God. It’s also a wonderful example of what He desires to do in the lives of Christians. He wants us to be firmly rooted in Him, to demonstrate to the world the beauty of a life transformed by Christ, and to be fruitful in

Deception Pervading America

I doubt he fully appreciates it, but President Donald Trump has performed a valuable service for scores of millions of Americans. He has opened their eyes to the insidious atmosphere of deception that pervades America and, indeed, the world. When he takes on the mainstream media and constantly points out the daily examples of “fake news”; when he exposes the bald-faced lies of those who promote the “virtues” of socialism; when he boldly proclaims late-term abortion to be what it

The Earthquake No One Felt

November saw two major earthquakes in the world. One was felt, the other wasn’t. A powerful 7.0 quake struck near Anchorage, Alaska, last week. In the three days following the earthquake, there were more than 1,800 aftershocks. Fortunately, it did not strike the city directly and it was centered more than 25 miles beneath the earth’s surface. There was no loss of life, but the images of the damage are breathtaking. But another, far stranger earthquake also took place in

School Shootings – A Closer Look

As a parent and grandparent, I can honestly say that I am horrified by the thought of even one child dying in any sort of violence while at school. We have always thought of America’s schools as a safe harbor for our children, a place we could send them for the day without worrying about their safety or comfort. Sadly, those may be halcyon days that we will never know again. But just because those times are apparently past does not

Human Life – Is It Precious?

Human life – is it precious? Or is it no different from the life of a mosquito? Human life – is it worth living? Or should we just kill whomever we want? Save a human baby? Or sacrifice our children? From the baby in the womb to the elderly in the nursing home—are they made in the image of God? Or made in the image of an animal? Bodie Hodge, speaker, author, and researcher for Answers In Genesis shows that

Center of the Universe

The universe is unimaginably vast consisting of hundreds of billions of galaxies.  We are in just one, which we call the Milky Way.  And “our” galaxy is indeed in a very unique and special place in the this vast expanse. D. Russell Humphreys writes, Over the last few decades, new evidence has surfaced that restores man to a central place in God’s universe. Astronomers have confirmed that numerical values of galaxy redshifts are ‘quantized’, tending to fall into distinct groups.

Prophecy Fulfillment Increasing

For sixty years, I’ve been teaching about things we now see every day. I’m not special. The Bible is my insight and revelation. As I study, I ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate His word. You can do the same thing. When I began teaching about Bible prophecy, news stories coinciding with and confirming prophecy came along every few months. Eventually, that became every few weeks. Then every few days. In the last few months, it has been relentless. Newscasts

Bible Prophecy and America

I believe the last few weeks have been dramatic in view of Bible prophecy for these last days. Hurricane Harvey and, more importantly, its aftermath have wreaked unbelievable devastation on the coastal regions of Southeast Texas and Louisiana. And it continues. As I write these words, rooftop rescues are still happening. Entire communities are being evacuated from flooded areas. Whole cities are without water and power. And the death toll is rising. Only now are thousands of first-responders and National

Interactive Tombstones?

Just when we thought we’d heard it all, a cemetery in Slovenia has introduced digital tombstones with 48-inch interactive screens that are weather-proof and vandal-proof. At first glance, they look like any other gravestone; but if you stand in front of them for a few moments, their sensors are activated and they come to life, giving you interactive opportunities to learn all about the deceased—including pictures, videos, and sound through an app connected to cell phones, so as not to
