Silencing Opponents

Rabble-rousing is the new favorite hobby, and sometimes full-time job, for an entire class of self-proclaimed “culture warriors.” Witness this year’s presidential race. For the first time since 1968, a great deal of social unrest has centered on the presidential campaign. It has been mostly fueled by the promotion of Socialism (one of the most violent and oppressive political movements in history) by one of its remaining candidates. And with the rise of issues like illegal immigration, Ferguson, transgender restrooms,

Losing Our Minds

It seems people…are losing their minds. Not completely, but incrementally. The human race as a whole is becoming less thoughtful, less intelligent, less discerning, and less reflective. We are gorging ourselves on a diet of “thought-candy”, not meat. Meat requires chewing and chewing means work. Thought-candy is sweet and melts in your mind. It includes things like celebrity news, trite, thoughtless memes, and ready-made, predigested political ideas we already know and agree with. Those things are not bad in themselves,

Gathering Against Israel

[O]n May 30, France is hosting a meeting of major players to plan a Middle East peace summit later this year. All the usual suspects will be there. In fact, it appears to be a reunion of the infamous “Quartet” of organizations and states: the UN, the EU, the US, and Russia. The goal of the summit? Devise a plan for dividing Jerusalem and finally bringing peace to the Middle East through a two-state solution in Israel. And if Israel

Climate Treaty: Roadmap to Antichrist

The United Nations chose “Earth Day” as the appropriate setting for the historic signing of this groundbreaking international climate accord [the “Paris Agreement”]. Note that the EC described it as “legally binding.” This is where it starts to get spooky, folks. What does that mean? A treaty can only be legally-binding if all parties formally agree to it. And before the U.S. can formally agree to a treaty, it has to be ratified by the U.S. Senate. The Senate has

Iraq: No Way Forward

Iraq is crumbling. The nation into which America poured so much blood and treasure is tearing apart. Its government has lost control and is spiraling into chaos. So much so that recently thousands of Iraqis stormed the “Green Zone,” the portion of Baghdad that lies behind fortified walls. Inside those walls you will find the houses of government, foreign embassies, luxury hotels, shops, and restaurants. The Green Zone is the safe place in Baghdad where most foreigners stay when visiting

America, God Shed His Grace On Thee

Remember the wonderful anthem to our beloved nation, “America the Beautiful”? When was the last time you sang it? It always makes me a little misty-eyed when I do. Have you ever noticed that “America the Beautiful” is chockful of prayer? Look at it. Each verse highlights something wonderful about America, then concludes with a prayer asking God to sustain us and continue to bless us. But the prayer in the first verse is the one that I believe is

Sex, Gender Identity, and Government

“The government has a duty to protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of all students. We will not put a price tag on the privacy and safety of schoolgirls. That is exactly what the Obama administration is doing by threatening to withhold federal funding if we do not conform to an extreme political agenda that opens all public school girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms to male students. Contrary to what President Obama would like, Americans do not elect a king

Your Arm’s Too Short to Box With God

The pitcher for the Boston Red Sox [Curt Schilling] cemented his place in baseball history when he won Game Six of the 2004 American League Championship Series (ALCS) over the New York Yankees. He pitched just days after ankle surgery and endured a sore and bleeding ankle to go seven innings and allow only one run. His bloody sock became a part of Major League Baseball history. The Red Sox went on to win the World Series. Schilling has three

Islam & Christianity – A Redeeming Difference

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. He redeemed us from the penalty of our sins — eternal torment and separation from God — by taking upon Himself our sins and guilt, and paying our penalty by dying in our place. It doesn’t seem like an even exchange, does it? He gets our sin and we get His righteousness. His righteousness reconciles us to the Father. And it happens the moment we believe in and accept Christ’s substitutionary death.

The Belligerent Bear

Last week, in the Baltic Sea off the coast of NATO-member Poland, two Russian fighter jets “buzzed” a United States destroyer, the USS Donald Cook. And not just “buzzed” in a convivial, welcoming manner, but in an aggressive, in-your-face style. In fact, they flew so close to the ship that the jets’ airflow caused wakes in the water. The week previously, a Russian fighter jet aggressively challenged an American RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft flying in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.

Target: Israel

Aviv Kochavi, Israel’s head of military intelligence, recently stated that, at any given time, more than 200,000 missiles are aimed at Israel. And even though Israel has developed a vaunted missile defense system, Iron Dome, its glaring weakness is that it can be overwhelmed by large numbers of missiles. And 200,000 is a large number of missiles. Many of those have been built by arguably the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization, Hezbollah. Of course, Hezbollah is the de facto ruler

Atheist Miracle: Origin of Mind and Morality

by Don Batten – April 21, 2016 The origin of mind and morality from energy and atoms has long been a problem for the materialist. It is a major theme of philosopher Thomas Nagel’s book, Mind and Cosmos, already referred to. A fig tree produces figs, not apples. That seems obvious. Likewise, physics and chemistry produce physical and chemical outcomes. However, mind and morality are not just matters of physics and chemistry. Sure, creatures that are physical and chemical have mind and morality, but how
